Solar Energy Costs Drop by 7% in BC

Posted by in Front, News, Our News, on April 2, 2013

The return of the PST here in British Columbia also means the return of the exemption for solar energy equipment. That means that for consumers solar energy systems will cost 7% less this month than last month . We are also seeing record low prices on photovoltaic modules. And a new drain-back solar thermal system that […]

Restore the PST Renewable Energy Exemption

Designing Solar Energy Systems for Performance

Posted by in Front, News, Our News, on January 30, 2013

Given the relative cost of solar energy and the resources needed to produce solar equipment, we believe that systems should be designed to optimize production.  There are many factors that can contribute to a system preforming optimally and proper design is crucial. Unfortunately architects, builders and even solar installers do not always understand these design […]

Fossil Fuel Free Buildings

Posted by in Front, News, on February 13, 2012

We often have people contact us who are interested in taking their home or commercial building “off the grid.”  Taking a building completely off the grid can be difficult and expensive.  A more realistic target is a “net-zero” building.  This type of building is still connected to the grid but produces as much power as […]

BC Hydro to raise rates paid for renewables

Posted by in Front, News, on January 19, 2012

BC Hydro has applied to raise the rate paid for electricity generated under the net-metering program. This means that owners of solar photovoltaic, wind or micro-hydro energy systems will receive more for the excess energy they produce. Under the proposal rates will rise from 8.16 to 9.99 cents per kWh.
