Another East Van Home Powers Up with Solar Energy

VREC recently completed another grid-tie photovoltaic (PV) installation in East Vancouver. The fourteen module photovoltaic system mounted on the south-facing upper roof will produce approximately 4,200 kWh annually – enough to supply the average Vancouver home with nearly half its energy needs or to power an energy efficient household year-round. An average Canadian household uses between 24-35 kWh a day, while an energy efficient household uses as little as 4-10 kWh or less a day. At these rates Canadian households with comparable arrays and solar exposure would be net exporters of energy. The 3.70 kW (nominal) array will also cut 370 kg of CO2e annually that would otherwise be emitted through conventional energy use.
