Solar PPAs in Zone 2 Communities

Businesses in communities like Anahim Lake, Nimpo Lake, Bella Coola and Haida Gwaii can install solar energy without any upfront costs and potentially save money through a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).

These communities are pay electrical rates based BC Hydro’s Zone 2 tariff.  That means they pay higher rates than other areas.

With a PPA the business can install solar at no upfront cost.  They do pay for the electricity generated but often at a lower cost than what they are pay BC Hydro.

SolShare develops solar projects that can help achieve environmental, social, and economic outcomes. We have a team of experienced professionals who have been building solar energy projects in BC since 2004.

We can work with you to assess the suitability of your site for solar. Generally, site requirements include:

  • Flat roof or south-facing sloped roof with at least 360 square metres (4,000 sq. ft.), clear and not shaded
  • Annual electrical consumption of at least 36,000 kWh
